Emerging Stars shine in PSL: Justice with their selection

As Pakistan Super League always played vital role in producing young and local talent. Those emerging stars shine brighter in PSL. They always do justice with their selection in team.

Pakistan Super League is known as the biggest brand in Pakistan. It is one of the most competitive leagues in the world as well. There is no doubt of saying that it second most followed league in the globe. It is pure entertainment and an exciting season for every cricket fan.

When it comes to recognizing talent, PSL always promotes local talent that has become famous globally. Every year, in the PSL draft there is a category of Emerging players. In the draft, they give equal chances to every deserving local talent. They all could be rare pacers, destructive batters extra ordinary fielders. There is a big competition among local club players to get a chance to show their talent. It would be their wish come true from club to dream team.

There is a list of Emerging players, and all those have made their name on the International Stage for Pakistan. They are undoubtedly great records in International as well as domestic leagues in the world. PSL gives them a stage to groom and set their dream for the big stage. Currently, in the Pakistan team, there are also big names that came from the Emerging category. They later perform well in PSL as well as in the Pakistan National Team.

Shaheen Shah Afridi

The man that does not need any introduction, star pacer for Pakistan, and Eagle him is called. Shaheen Shah Afridi is the backbone of the Pakistan National Team right now. He is a star bowler since his U19 career. He was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup 2018. Before his debut for the Lahore Qalandar, he debuted for the Pakistan National team across all three formats. In the 2019 World Cup, he gave an exceptional performance with the ball. He was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Later in 2021, his famous spell against India with 3 wickets hauls in the T20 World Cup.

 Shaheen Shah Afridi has played 29 Tests, 53 ODI and 69 T20I so far for Pakistan. And he has taken 113 Wickets in Tests, 104 wickets in ODI and 93 wickets in T20I, and many more to come.

Haider Ali

Haider Ali gained most of his fame from PSL. He started his PSL journey in Peshawar Zalmi, as Peshawar Zalmi always promotes the young and local talent in their team. Peshawar Zalmi chose him in the Supplementary category and he performed really well in his debut PSL year. Haider is the first Pakistan batter to score 50-plus runs in his debut match against England. He started his PSL career with Peshawar Zalmi and then he joined Karachi Kings. This year he was featured in Islamabad United.

Muhammad Haris, Mr. Google

The destructive opener batsman Muhammad Haris made his debut in PSL in 2022. Peshawar Zalmi selected him in their team and gave him a proper chance to deliver. With his famous tagline #bethebest made him famous overnight. In his first match of PSL, he struck 49 runs in 27 balls against Karachi Kings. He has a nickname in his team, which is called Mr. Google.  He debuted in the T20 World Cup for Pakistan against South Africa in 2022. His famous stroke made him viral on social media. He showcased a blistering inning of 28(11).

Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah, the young sensation of the Pakistan Cricket Team, has impressed his fans with his swing with the new ball. He came into the PSL, as he started his sensational journey of Cricket with Quetta Gladiators. At the age of 16, he made his debut for the Pakistan National team in a Test Match in 2019. He became the first ever youngest player to take a hat-trick in test cricket history.

HaseebUllah and Irfan Khan Niazi and many more

PSL has a rich history of producing young and local talent. This time we will talk about a few more players who made their roles very important for their franchise. Peshawar Zalmi picked him, a renowned star batsman from his U19 era. He is an anchor player of the middle order. He can keep behind the wickets as well. The other one is Irfan Khan Niazi, the gun fielder and also a proper batsman.

Karachi Kings picked him in their team as an emerging player. How can we forget Saim Ayub, Peshawar Zalmi picked and gave him a proper chance. He made a justice of his selection and gave extraordinary performances. He is the fans’ favorite due to his signature short which is called “No Look Short”.

In 2024 edition of PSL 9, there are lots of young sensations played and made their name in big performances

Shah Brothers

Islamabad United picked Hunian Shah and Ubaid Shah, the two right-arm pacers. Both are the brother of Naseem Shah, who played with their brother Naseem in Islamabad United in PSL 2024. Ubaid Shah debuted in U-19 cricket and played in the World Cup for Pakistan.

Saad Baig and Mohammad Zeeshan

He is from Karachi and was born in Karachi as well. Saad Baig has been captain of the Pakistan U19 team in the World Cup. He led Pakistan to the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2024. He also led his team to the Semi-final of the ACC Asia Cup. Saad Baig is a proper batsman with keeping skill behind the wickets.


The other is Mohammad Zeeshan, an emerging star, who made his debut for Peshawar Zalmi. He is a 6 ft 8 inches tall right-arm pacer. He gave a promising performance in the U-19 World Cup 2024 for Pakistan. This time he played Peshawar Zalmi in PSL edition 9.

Khawaja Nafey and Faisal Akram and Shamyl Hussain

A young and destructive star batsman Khawaja Nafey made his debut for Quetta Gladiator in PSL 9. He also played in franchise tournaments. Chattogram Challengers picked him BPL.

The other is Shamyl Hussain, a fan of Brain Lara; he admired Brain as his role model in cricket. He is a top-order left-hand batsman. Islamabad picked him in the PSL 9 edition in the emerging Category.

The next is Faisal Akram, a left-arm wrist spinner. Previous two seasons, he was featured in Karachi Kings, but could not get a chance to play any match except sitting in the pavilion. After, having a successful season in Domestic Cricket. Multan Sultan picked him and gave him some sort of chance to show his skills.
